ESRM 351: Wildlife Research Techniques

COMMENTS: This class was a good break from the computer-math stuff it seems that us QERMies are always doing. The class is 8 credits- which means there are several weekend field trips. You get to learn the common birds and plants that one comes across in Washington state. I think you learn 40 birds and 40 plants, which helps you identify most of what you see but isn't too difficult. You also get to try out the research techniques that you read about- line transects, quadrant sampling, mist-netting, traps, etc. You also see how "random" sampling usually is in practice- the statisticians have their work cut out for them!
RECOMMENDED? Yes.
